I first saw Diane Kruger in this memorable and fabulously violent scene in Quentin Tarantino's 'Inglourious Basterds'. In that scene, she plays this German actress who charms members of the Nazi staff, but who in reality, actually works for this American band of Nazi killers, led by the character played by Brad Pitt. She is superb in this scene, as she switches from French to German to English. And it helps that she's fabulous and beautiful and brave in it.
In Unknown, she plays a Bosnian illegal immigrant who has the bad luck of driving the character of Liam Neeson. Her character gets imbroigled in all the violence and retribution, and in the end, Diane's character becomes the heroine of it all! I really like how she played the role - combining fragility with a steel resolve to finish off the enemy. I like how her character started off as aloof and scared to somebody who was brave and resolute, especially after her good friend was killed by the assassins.
Her beauty radiates in the last scene where she and Liam Neeson start new identities and where she finally becomes a legal immigrant!
